The words Blessed and Education don't seem to go together. When we think of a blessing we have thoughts of well-being in our mind. We think that being blessed by the Lord means being protected, guarded, favored and helped. We don't think about being educated. In fact, most people resist instructions to some extent. And to extend it even further to correction.
The word education immediately brings to mind: correction, punishment, moderation, exercise, training. Why, then, should God discipline us? Because God loves us. In Hebrews 12:6 it is written: “For the Lord disciplines those whom he loves,
and punishes all those he recognizes as his children"
Imagine how messy our homes would be without discipline. How undisciplined our children would be if their parents didn't correct them. Likewise, our Father in Heaven disciplines us when we go astray. He takes care of us and constantly watches over us. And he wants to make sure we stay on the right track. He promises to instruct us in the way forward.
Our God does not pat us on the back when we do something that displeases him. No. He disciplines us for our own good. He did it with Moses, he did it with Jonah, with Peter and with Paul. He will do it with me and with you.
So rejoice when you are disciplined by the Lord. It means he cares about you and loves you. And His discipline promotes growth in you and greater trust in Him.
This morning we want to pray together saying: Heavenly Father, thank you for Your word. Thank you for what you do for me. I wish to surrender my life to You. Instruct me to do Your will in everything. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
