SLOW TO ANGER

Peace of the Lord and have a good start to the week everyone.
For today's "Bread from Heaven", Monday 5 February 2024, the thought I felt like sharing with you has as its key verse:
Proverbs 16:32 (NIV)

“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”

In the society we live in, a person is valued based on the amount of wealth he has and the number of acquaintances he has, as well as his position and family background. Some are considered powerful based on their socioeconomic status and the type of lifestyle they live, but the Bible considers a person who is slow to anger powerful. Those who manage to dominate their spirit are stronger than those who conquer a city by force or with the use of weapons.
This morning's verse invites us to be slow to anger. You have to learn how to keep your temper under control. We must be ready to forgive each other and let go of resentment and hatred. We must learn to have the same love that God has. If we control our tongue and our anger, we are considered better than any powerful or strong person. Let's be kind to each other. Secondly, there must be within us the determination to control our passions and desires. We must govern them and not them govern us. Our passions and desires must be kept under control and must be submitted to God. If we do this, we are better than those who conquer a city with the help of others, by force or by weapons.
Let our lives be completely monitored by God's word as we live by His grace each day. Let us try to be slow to anger and to govern our self, subjecting it to the authority of God.

Today we want to pray together and say: Father God, I need you today to shape my life and character. I wish to do your will. Transform me and take away from me what does not conform to Your word. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
