DO UNTO OTHERS

Peace of the Lord to all.
For today's family worship, Sunday 3 March 2024, I feel in my heart to share with you a thought which has as its key verse:
Luke 6:31 (NIV)

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

We expect good from others and want them to always be kind to us. When an opportunity presents itself to do something good for those around us, we hesitate. Jesus said that whatever we want others to do for us, we should do for them. This is the true love and care we can show as children of God.
The desire for others to do something for us is never limited to just friends. Sometimes it happens in the family too. Either the husband or wife expects the other to do something. Wouldn't it be nice if they helped each other by doing to each other what they want done to themselves? Surely! God would bless such a relationship. Jesus taught us to go the extra mile and not simply help someone in need. Learn to be like Jesus in all aspects of life. If you want someone to be good or kind to you, you have to take the first step to love and be kind to that person. God's word says we will reap what we sow. If we sow good things in the lives of others, we will also reap them with joy.
Shake off all the restrictions and boundaries you have set around yourself. Don't expect to be served, instead serve others as Jesus did. He washed the feet of his disciples. He didn't expect them to wash his feet. We do for others what we would like others to do for us.

This morning we want to turn to God together and tell him: Lord God, thank you for how Your word encourages me to be an example of love and service to those around me. I desire to do Your will. Help me shine Your light in my life. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
