THE BREAD OF LIFE

Peace of the Lord and have a good start to the week everyone.
For today's "Bread from Heaven", Monday 20 May 2024, the thought I felt like sharing with you has as its key verse:
John 6:35 (NIV)

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

This chapter begins with the famous miracle of the Lord Jesus who multiplied five barley loaves and two small fishes that a boy generously shared. The day after this miracle, the crowd got into boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus. When they finally found Him, they said: What miraculous sign are you doing, then, that we may see it and believe you? What do you do? Our fathers ate manna in the desert. Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread that comes from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread that comes from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world."
So they said to him, "Lord, always give us this bread."
As we seek food for our physical body, do we have the same desire for the Bread of Life? Or are we eagerly waiting for the Lord to first perform mighty miracles and wonders in our lives, and then we will believe and seek Him… just like the crowds? Just one day earlier, Jesus miraculously multiplied the loaves and fishes, and the next day, when the crowds ask Him for bread, He responds: “I am the bread of life”
Before the miracle of multiplication, Jesus broke the bread and gave thanks, just as his body was broken on the cross for you. “Come to me… and believe,” says Jesus. Decide to come to Him, whatever you are facing inside. He is able to give you the bread that satisfies your spiritual life. Just go and believe, He calls you today!

Today we want to pray together and say: God the Father, I thank you for your word. Thank you for the way you provide for my every need. I come to You to receive nourishment for my spiritual life. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
