Today we hear about terrible and devastating things all over the world. People kill each other, one nation with another nation. Mutual hatred has led innocent people to lose their lives. This world is no longer a safe place to live. Every day brings with it fear, confusion, insecurity, discouragement, doubts. But Jesus said 2000 years ago that he left us something called peace.
The peace that Jesus gives is not like that which the world offers and then does not give. The Lord gives us the peace that surpasses all understanding. We can find peace even in a stormy situation knowing that He controls our lives. The peace that the world promises is very different from the peace that Christ gives. God's peace will heal our wounds. His peace will comfort us in all the difficulties we go through. We will be able to live our lives free from worries as the divine peace of God will permeate our entire being. Even as we walk we will pass through the valley of the shadow of death, great will be our calm certainty because none of these things will defeat us with God at our side.
The Lord knows that we, as human beings, will go through many trials and difficulties. Therefore, He promised His peace before He was crucified for us. What he said to his disciples is the same thing he is saying to us who are his disciples today. He left his peace to us too. It is up to us to receive it and be blessed.
Together we pray to the Lord telling him: God of heaven, I thank you for the way you speak to me. Give me Your peace in everything I face. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
