The book of Acts sets the stage for what happened in the early church after Jesus ascended into heaven and the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples. Jesus' physical presence was no longer there, but the time spent with his disciples had been fruitful.
Even in the face of opposition, Peter and John stood up courageously and declared the good news of the Gospel to everyone. The listeners were obviously amazed because ordinary, uneducated fishermen spoke with such wisdom and eloquence. And they recognized that these two men had been with Jesus. Can the people around you recognize that you are with Jesus, that you know Him intimately, and that you share a close relationship with Him?
Acts 4:8 says that Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, spoke to them. Wisdom, boldness, courage, and steadfastness will be yours if you allow the Holy Spirit to play an active role in your life. Spend time with the Lord every day and people will begin to see His hand at work in your life.
Together we pray to the Lord telling him: God of love, I thank you for your word. Always be by my side and shape my life so that others can see the work you do in me. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
