Those were important moments when the colonies received freedom from the colonizers, days that, decades later, are still celebrated. Independence Day marked the end of a struggle for freedom and the beginning of a new era. Furthermore, that day gave the governments that were formed the responsibility to defend their country from new colonizers.
Likewise, we receive freedom from our sins and bondages when we accept Jesus as the Lord of our lives. But this is only the beginning of our new life. We must be diligent in protecting our hearts from worldly attacks. The enemy of our souls is waiting to usurp our freedom and control us again, but with God's help we can resist temptation.
Jesus Christ paid for your freedom with His life. Make the decision to be firmly rooted in His Word so you can remain free. Don't let the enemy steal your peace, joy and freedom. When you spend time in God's presence and follow His guidance, you will be strengthened to resist the wiles of the enemy. You are a child of God and belong to His fold. Let the Lord lead you every day.
This morning we want to pray together saying: Heavenly Father, thank you for your great love. I desire to live a life of obedience to Your word. Help me resist the snares of the enemy. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!
