THE WORD OF THE LORD

Peace of the Lord and have a good start to the week everyone.
For today's "Bread from Heaven", Monday 1 July 2024, the thought I felt like sharing with you has as its key verse:
Psalm 138:2 (NIV)

“I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.”

Psalm 138 offers us an opportunity to reflect on the greatness of God and His Word. In this verse, the psalmist expresses his deep gratitude for God's love and faithfulness, recognizing that His Word surpasses all earthly fame and glory.
The psalmist begins by stating that he will worship God in His holy temple. This act of worship is not only an expression of reverence, but also of deep gratitude for God's goodness and faithfulness. The psalmist personally experienced God's love in his life and recognized His faithfulness in every circumstance.
But what moves the psalmist to praise God even more is His Word. He states that God has "made his word great beyond all fame." This means that God's Word is more precious and important than anything else in the world. It is wiser than any human philosophy, more powerful than any army, and more enduring than any earthly kingdom.
This verse invites us to reflect on our relationship with the Word of God. Do we give it the place it deserves in our lives? Do we read it regularly? Do we meditate on it and let it penetrate our hearts? God's Word has the power to transform us, make us wise, guide us in our choices, and give us hope for the future.
Today we want to pray together and say: God the Father, we thank you for your infinite love and your unwavering faithfulness. We praise you for your wonderful Word, which is light for our steps and lamp for our paths. Help us to better understand your Word and put it into practice in our lives. May your Word always be first in our hearts and minds. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
